Plastic injection rim project
Technical feasibility study and engineering development to replace carbon fiber rim manufacturing with high-performance plastic injection.
The challenge
The main challenge was to study the technical feasibility of manufacturing rims through plastic injection, a component currently produced in carbon fiber. It was required to validate whether this manufacturing method could maintain the safety and performance standards necessary for the automotive sector.
The solution
An exhaustive study was carried out to validate materials, and specific test molds were manufactured to perform impact studies. The project included all the engineering necessary to industrialize the product, seeking an alternative that would drastically reduce current production costs.
